ERP™ - Expatriate Repatriation Programme™ (for expats returning home)

This course can be taught through the following platforms:

Overview

Surveys have found that “between 40-60 percent of returnees leave their company within the first year of being home”. Clearly this statistic is unacceptable to any company serious about its global workforce development and it needs to be addressed. There is also a great deal of personal stress and anxiety associated with the repatriation process and this needs to be dealt with proactively for the employee’s and company’s sake. Our repatriation programmes are designed to assist with these problems.

More Detailed Information

Surveys have found that “between 40-60 percent of returnees leave their company within the first year of being home”. Clearly this statistic is unacceptable to any company serious about its global workforce development and it needs to be addressed. There is also a great deal of personal stress and anxiety associated with the repatriation process and this needs to be dealt with proactively for the employee’s and company’s sake. Our repatriation programmes are designed to assist with these problems.

Consider:

  • In one study of American returnees, 64 percent reported “significant   culture shock” upon repatriation.
  • In another survey, 64 percent of Dutch and 80 percent of Japanese expats said they found coming home more difficult than adjusting overseas.
  • Only 7 percent of returning teenagers said they felt at home with their peers in the United States.
  • More than 50 percent of Swedish exchange students said they “didn’t fit in” when they returned to Sweden.
  • Seventy-five percent of returning soldiers in one study said they found reentry “difficult, time-consuming, and acrimonious.”
  • More than 50 percent of the executives in a survey of U.S. corporations said they experienced social reentry problems upon repatriation.

A successful repatriate programme needs to be delivered as a combined effort between the expatriate, ourselves and the company employing the expatriate.
